Interested in Joining?

Want to explore something new every week?

Bradley Stoke Woodcraft meet weekly during term time. Each week there are lots of games, crafts and other activities going on. At least one session each term we head outdoors to local woods or parks, all year round. Winter hot chocolate in the woods is always a popular session.

Though out the year we join with other groups for activities.  Each year we have an Bristol wide "Merrymoot" with each group taking along something to share, as well as games and a fabulous ploughman's supper. There is also spring camp, when again we get together with the other groups in Bristol for a whole weekend of activities later in the year our autumn night in the woods.

What Ages is the group for?

At Bradley Stoke we have two groups, Elfins are aged 6 - 9 and Pioneers aged 10 - 12. Once they reach 13 our young people have the chance to join Bristol Venturers at Windmill hill city farm. We've got a busy car share with quite a few young people heading over each fortnight.

What happens at a group night?

Most of our Wednesday evening sessions are based in the school hall. We start with a few games to burn off some energy.  Then we take a break for a drink and our news circle where children are encoraged to tell us a bit about their week.

Finally we break into our two age groups, for our activity of the evening. For the Elfins this is often a craft, drama or a group challenge where they have to work together to solve a problem.  Our Pioneers are supported to plan their own activities and come up with some fantastic ideas.

How much does it cost?

We charge £40 per child per (12 week) term, which is payable at the beginning of each term.

Can I come for a taster?

Yes, we run a special introductory offer of your first five sessions for the discount rate of £10.

Do you have spaces in the group?

We have a few spaces in the group for children to start at the beginning of the summer term 2017.

How do I contact you?

Give us a ring on 0117 9093969 or email info@southwestwoodcraft.org.uk for details.

What if my child is not quite 6?

We're happy for children to join at the start of the term they will turn 6. If your child is younger than that then we can add them to the waiting list and will contact you as soon as they are old enough and we have places.

Are you a Forest School?

Woodcraft is a separate organisation to Forest Schools, although many of our activities are quite similar.

Our Wednesday sessions are based indoors, in addition to our camps we also have other outdoor events through the year where children can learn bushcraft skills such as fire lighting, whittling and cooking over the fire.

What about camping?

We usually run several camping trips each year. along with other groups in Bristol we run a Spring camp at the beginning of May, and a week long summer camp in early August. Our own group also run a "night under the stars" event in the Autumn, sleeping under tarps and cooking over a campfire.
